Warmer temperatures and the spring season are right around the corner, which can bring severe weather and March is severe weather preparedness month. Monmouth Fire Chief Casey Rexroat explains when the general rule of when the storm sirens are utilized in Warren County:
“Sometimes they might go off here, might not go off in Roseville or vice versa and things like that. The general rule in Warren County for setting off sirens is if winds are projected to be above 70 mph, if there is a tornado warning in your area, or if they are projecting hail above an inch and three quarter in diameter. If any of those things were to happen or if we get word from the National Weather Service that type of weather is on the way, then we will set off the sirens for the area they think it is going to happen in.”
Chief Rexroat also stated that during those severe storms make sure to place emergency generators outdoors.
