Mr. Virgil R. Moore, 84, of Galesburg, Illinois passed away at 9:43 pm Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria.

Virgil was born September 20, 1936 in Hermon, Illinois the son of Harold Ralph and Mildred (Trimble) Moore. He married Roslie Folger and later married Bonnie S. Madison on November 24, 1984 in Galesburg.

Virgil is survived by his loving wife, Bonnie of Galesburg; his two daughters, Virgie Scott-Shimen of Galesburg and Terri Moore of Galesburg; stepson John Wilson of St. Charles, IL and stepdaughter Suzanne Whiting of Galesburg; nine grandchildren and one great grandchild. He is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Gary, Rodney and Jimmy Moore, one sister, Margie Johnson and his step daughter, Candy Bullock.

Virgil worked as an electrical contractor for over 35 years, retiring September 20, 2000 as the owner of Moore Electric. He graduated from Galesburg High School in 1955. He attended the Northwoods Community Church and was a member of the Elks Lodge #894.

Virgil enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and camping.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 1:00 pm Tuesday, March 2, 2021 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services with Pastor Andrew Wingo officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00-1:00 pm Tuesday at the chapel. Due to guidelines associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, social distancing and facemasks will be required with limited occupancy.  Burial will be in East Linwood Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or Ronald McDonald House. Online condolences may be made at ww.h-p-w.com. A celebration of life will be held at a later date, with the details to be announced at that time.
