Applications are available now through the Illinois Farm Bureau for the Rural Nurse Practitioner Scholarship Program. 15 scholarships worth $4,000 each will be awarded this year. Warren-Henderson Farm Bureau Manager Gina Long has more:
“It is in its’ 29th year that Illinois has been involved and really wants to promote this. The purpose of this scholarship is to give out money to students who then will have to work as a nurse practitioner in an approved rural area in Illinois for two years. There is information on our website for this Rural Nurse Scholarship Program.”
Deadline to apply for the Rural Nurse Practitioner Scholarship Program is May 1st.
Illinois Farm Bureau is also accepting applications for the Illinois Veterinary Education and Training (IVET) loan program. Loans of up to $40,000 to as many as three veterinary students are awarded each year, with a $1,500 stipend being awarded during their fourth year for clinical rotation expenses, says Manager Gina Long:
“As many as up to three veterinary students each year can receive loans up to $40,000. This program has been going on since 2005 and I think over half a million dollars has been dispersed in this program to a number of vet students.”
Loans are repaid over a five year period during which graduates must commit to working in a food animal practice in Illinois that serves livestock producers. Applications for the IVET loan program are due May 15th and can be found online at ilfb.org/IVET.
