Verna Mae Westfall, 90, of Toulon, passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Saturday, March 13, 2021, 9:26 AM.
Verna was born on June 1, 1930 in Galesburg. She was the daughter of Myrl L. “Mike” and Beulah G. (Lundeen) Kenney. Verna is survived by her seven children, Susan (Randy) Stewart of Florida, Joanne (Thomas) Benge of Bishop Hill, Rita Singer of Toulon, John (Pamela) Westfall of Joy, Cindy Adams of Florida, Tom Westfall of Wataga, Lisa (Kevin) Collinson of Galva; two sisters, Lois Winkler of Galesburg and Delores Barman of Oklahoma; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; two children, Allan Westfall and Theresa Westfall; two grandsons, Caleb and Joshua; and two sisters, Ruth and Leona.
Verna graduated from Altona High School. She also attended Black Hawk East and various other colleges, she had a love to study and could be deemed a “professional student.” Verna worked as a custodian for the Stark County School District and also worked for WJRE-FM Kewanee as a receptionist. Verna loved to tend to her plants, flowers and her Farmville farm. She was a photographer and an artist. She loved to draw and paint local landscaping. Verna was a strong, determined Christian woman, who had a heart of gold. She was always willing to give a helping hand to anyone or any cat that may have needed it. Her grandchildren were her greatest treasure and she took pride in being the “best grandma ever!” She will be greatly missed by everyone that loved her.
