Local Farmer Andy Huston Teaming Up with Area Professors to Research Hemp Plants at American Hemp Research

Local farmer and President of American Hemp Research Andy Huston, along with Dr. Lee from the University of Illinois, the cannabis professor at Western Illinois University, and the University of Illinois Extension out of Freeport will be teaming up to plant hemp research plots this summer.

“Basically they have all different types of research projects they want to do this summer and we will be supplying them with seeds on some of it and on parts of it they are supplying us with seeds and we are growing them and seeing how the plants react in this area.”

Huston says this planting season they will focus on smokable flower and anticipate planting roughly two acres of hemp.
