West Central Football Coach Jason Kirby Disappointed Heat is Not Able to Find Opponent for Week 6

The red-hot Heat are (5-0) after dismantling another opponent. West Central knocked off South Beloit 60-16 last Saturday afternoon. The Heat kept their number two ranking in this week’s Illinois 8-man football poll. West Central gained a few voter points on top-ranked River Ridge. RR has five first-place votes and 86 total points. The Heat picked up one more first-place vote and has four total, with 84 total voter points. With just one week left in the season and no postseason being held this year due the coronavirus pandemic, the two schools will not face each other. Actually, the Heat’s season is over. West Central’s final week opponent on Friday was scheduled to be Flanagan-Cornell-Woodland. FCW had to cancel the game due to covid-19 protocols. West Central football coach, Jason Kirby said on the WRAM Morning Show on Wednesday that they had made numerous calls to schools around the state looking for a game but none was found. River Ridge is scheduled to play South Beloit on Friday night. Should South Beloit give RR a close game, it might be enough for West Central to jump them in the final poll.
