Dylan M. Watkins, 25 of Abingdon, passed away at 7:06 p.m. Friday, June 25, 2021 at Unity Point Health-Methodist Hospital in Peoria.
He was born September 9, 1995 in Galesburg, the son of Michael E. and Brandi Jo (Boyd) Watkins.
Dylan is survived by his parents, Mike & Brandi Watkins of Abingdon; his daughter, Emalaya Joleigh Watkins; his son, Carter James Harvey; his sisters, Paige (TJ McCann) Watkins of Abingdon, Demi Watkins of Abingdon and Chelsea (Blaine Pincock) Ramirez of the state of Oregon; the love of his life and mother of his children, Chanda Rice of Rock Island; one niece, Hayven McCann; three nephews, Paxton McCann, Joey Ramirez and Maximus Pincock; his grandparents, Chris Callies of Abingdon, Debbie Watkins of Abingdon and Warren (Christine) Watkins of McDonough, Georgia; his great-grandmothers, Sharon Way of Abingdon and Jo Boyd of Texas; a special uncle who he grew up with, Codie Callies; his God-parents, Denise and Tony Dorethy; and aunts, uncles, cousins and their families.
He was preceded in death by his great-grandfathers, Paul Way, Jr., Max Boyd and Warren Watkins; and his great-grandmother’s, Norma “Tootie” Buttons and America Joan Fitzgibbon.
He has lived in Abingdon most of his life. He attended Abingdon schools and later graduated from the Knox County Academy in 2014. He was a diehard Philadelphia Eagles and Chicago White Sox fan. He enjoyed bowling, playing golf, fishing, and playing scratch-off lottery tickets. He was also known as “Uncle DooDoo” by his special niece Hayven. He cherished the time he spent with his children and hanging out with friends.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 2, 2021, at the Abingdon Christian Church. Rev. Will Brown will officiate. Burial will be in the Abingdon Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the church. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Abingdon Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
