Macomb Bomber Girls Basketball Zach Keene Resigns

Share

Big coaching news out of Macomb on Monday. Macomb High School girls basketball coach Zach Keene resigned, citing the reason as wanting to spend more time with his family. Keene has two children that attend school in the Macomb district.

Keene has been coaching at Macomb High School since the 2012-2013 school year. He started his coaching career in 2003 at Rushville High School, winning a regional title in his first season. After two years at Rushville Keene moved on to Carthage in 2005, where he would again find quick success. The Blue Girls took 3rd place in the state in Class A in Keene’s initial season at the school. The Carthage school district combined with the Dallas City and LaHarpe districts to form Illini West High School in 2007 and kept Keene on as head coach. Between Carthage and Illini West, Keene would win four regional tournaments and 141 games in seven seasons.

Macomb High School would hire Keene before the 2012 school year to head up the Bomber girls basketball program, where he remained until yesterday. Keene has accrued 244 career wins and was an IBCA Coach of the Year four times.
