The Galesburg All-City Golf Tournament took place over the weekend. The tournament was originally scheduled for three days at three separate courses around the city, but was reduced to two days after Saturday’s round was wiped out due to rain. Friday’s round was held at Soangetaha Country Club, while Saturday’s second round at Bunker Links was canceled due to rain throughout the day. Sunday’s final round at Lake Bracken was even delayed because of morning rains.

David Blake, who was back to try and make it three straight years holding the championship trophy, found himself trailing by three strokes heading into the final round on Sunday. He was tied with Cory Scott and Mike Tapper for 2nd place, behind first round leader Kyle McGee. McGee would shoot a 78 at Lake Bracken on Sunday for a two-day total of 150. Blake shot a 72 on Sunday to tie McGee for the lead. Blake scored a par on the first playoff hole and became the first 3-peat city champ since Bob Coe Jr. won his third straight title in 1971. Following McGee in second was Tapper with a 152 and Scott with a 153.

Chris Watkins won the Senior Division with a 148 and Mike Duffy’s two-day total of 154 was the lowest score in the Super Senior Division.
