Letter and Postcard Scams Targeting Seniors in the Local Area

Share

A new Medicare scam is circulating via letters and postcards in the mail saying you can save $144 a month by calling a certain number. Strom Center Executive Director Carol McCrery informs it is not legitimate and to make sure you look at all the fine print:

“If you get one you might want to look at it because it says they will save you a $144 a month if you are on Medicare and you just call the number and you can find out. We get them every day. The population we are working with; primarily, are people that were raised to pay your bills when your bills are due. A lot of people bring in bills and they are not real bills. If you look at the fine print, it will be this is actually an advertisement, but you are eligible for this.”

If you receive one of these letters, postcards or any other form that looks questionable, feel free to bring it by Strom Center or contact McCrery at 734-5677.
