Margaret A. Smith, age 82, of Galesburg, Illinois passed away at 12:53
pm on Saturday July 10, 2021 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in
Peoria, Illinois. Margaret was born on September 8, 1938 in rural
Lewistown, Illinois. She is the daughter of Worth and Fay Anna Rarik
Dixon.  Margaret attended local schools in Avon, Illinois and later
married Lee Arnold Smith on February 23, 1957 in Sugar Tree Grove Church
of Hale Township in Warren County. He preceded her in death on February
13, 1968 after a farm accident. Margaret was employed by several jobs
before becoming employed at Maytag Corporation of Galesburg where she
was an assembler and worked until her retirement on May 25, 2000. She
enjoyed crocheting, and handwork and made toy dolls. She most loved her
time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a great
mother raising her five children. She is survived by two daughters,
Sarah Taylor of Monmouth, Illinois and Rosalie Stone of Spring Valley,
Illinois.  There are two sons, Harold Smith of Galesburg, Illinois and
Terry Smith and Heather of Galesburg, Illinois. There are sixteen
grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren lso surviving. Preceding
her in her death are her parents, husband, one son, Russell, one
granddaughter, and eight brothers and sisters.
A funeral service is planned at 11:00 am on Friday July 23, 2021 at
Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, Illinois. Her family plans to receive
friends from 10:00 am to 11:00 am prior to the service at the funeral
home. Interment will then follow in the Berwick Cemetery where she will
be placed next to her husband.
