City Council Approves Purchase of New Ladder Truck for Monmouth Fire Dept.

Monmouth City Council has approved the purchase of a new ladder truck for the Monmouth Fire Department to replace the 25 year old truck that has been constantly out of service due to mechanical issues. Fire Chief Casey Rexroat says the new truck will allow them to reach houses that set farther back from the street:

“The reach of the new ladder truck is a total of 107 feet. It is a straight stick style. Currently we have, what we call a platform truck, and it has a bucket on the end you can stand in. This truck is more of a straight style where there is no bucket on the end of the ladder. It is able to be deployed fairly easily here in town. We can use it on more residential fires and things like that, but it also has the reach to be able to get to some of those houses that have a further setback from the street and also we have a lot of industrial facilities, as you know, that maybe we can get that reach to get out in the middle of the roof.”

The new ladder truck from Pierce Fire Equipment has been approved for purchase in the amount of $1,030,000.
