Each year Monmouth’s contract operation company Woodard and Curran shares an annual review with City Council to discuss projects of the previous year. Along with the report, Public Works Director Andy Jackson informs the issue right now is struggling to get materials due to the supply chain:
“One of our biggest issues now is the supply chain. We are really struggling to get just common things. We had ordered a new utility dump truck last October and here it is the first of August and they are still waiting on the computer chip for it. It is built and ready to go; don’t know when we are going to get it. The street striping, again, we ordered all of our water-based ten minute dry paint, designed for traffic, ordered it in March and they don’t know when we are going to get it. It gets frustrating because we want to paint, we want to restripe everything. The town looks great when it’s all painted and striped up. Checking with other vendors, they are having the same issue. We are not alone in it. It is just a little bit beyond our control.”
Meanwhile, Director Jackson informs the West Harlem Avenue water main and road reconstruction project is now awaiting IDOT approval of the completed road plan designs. The total cost estimate of the project is $5 million.
