Division III Coaches Expect to Deal With Inexperience in 2021-2022

Inexperience is going to be the main factor college sports coaches are going to be forced deal with this fall. Due to the pandemic, nearly all sports were canceled at the division III level during the 2020-2021 school year. It’s no secret that the biggest jump in competition is between a student-athlete’s senior year of high school and freshman year of college. With no fall sports being played last year in the Midwest Conference, college freshman did not get any actual game-experience at the collegiate level. That means they will essentially be returning as freshman, experience-wise, this year. Also factor in that there will be an incoming freshman class, and that leaves many sports programs with a very young roster.

Monmouth College Associate Vice President of the Communications and Marketing Department, Duane Bonifer says that will certainly make it a challenging year for coaches, it could also be very a exciting year for Fighting Scots sports fans.
