Hollie Lynn Hills, 40, of Galesburg and formerly of Abingdon, passed away at 2:40 a.m. Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at the OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria, after courageously fighting cancer since 2018.

She was born July 20, 1981 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg, the daughter of Richard “Rick” E. and Teresa (Fishel) Hills.

Hollie is survived by her children, Chloe Cooper and Jamil Johnson, both at home; her mother, Teresa Hills of Abingdon; her siblings, Hannah (Michael) O’Connell of Bettendorf, Iowa and Joe Hills of Galesburg; nieces and nephews; her grandmother, Joyce Fishel of Abingdon; a special aunt, Cathy Hills of Abingdon; and aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her father, Richard “Rick” Hills, and her grandparents, Bob Fishel, and Virgil and Elnora Hills

Hollie grew up in Abingdon and graduated from Abingdon High School in 1999.  She has lived in Galesburg since 2004.  She worked at several area restaurants and later at United Facilities in Galesburg for 11 years.  She currently worked at the Love’s Travel Stop in Knoxville since it opened in 2017.  Hollie was a “great cook” and was famous for her chicken and noodles, and lasagna.  She also enjoyed fishing, gardening, attending whatever events her children were involved in, spoiling her nieces and nephews, and she “loved her family”.  She was also an avid Green Bay Packer fan.

Graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, September 20, 2021, at the Abingdon Cemetery.  Rev. Will Brown will officiate.  Visitation will be held from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Abingdon Chapel.  The family suggests casual attire for the service and visitation, including your favorite sports team apparel. In accordance with CDC and IDPH covid guidelines, attendees will be required to wear a mask in the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the family or to OSF Family House, 1339 E. Nebraska Ave., Peoria, IL 61603.  Online Condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
