Monmouth-Roseville won its fifth straight game in dramatic fashion Thursday night at Coach Dobry Field by defeating Orion 34-28 on a 1-yard run by junior quarterback Silas Braun with 23 seconds to play.

Monmouth-Roseville (5-1 overall, 4-0 in the Three Rivers Conference West division) overcame a 28-14 halftime deficit to snap a 15-game losing streak to Orion that dates back to 2000.

“Super, super proud of these guys,” said a very happy Titans head coach Jeremy Adolphson. “A lot of big plays that had to happen for us. As good as things have been going for us, it would have been easy to tuck our tails and take a beating.

“But these guys find a way and overcome.”

Braun’s last-minute touchdown was his third of the game, it capped a 91-yard drive and put the Titans ahead 32-28. He then added the two-point conversion for the final points of the game.

Derek Chandler gained 145 yards on 26 carries. Braun rushed for 136 yards on 16 carries and completed 10 of 14 passes for 158 yards.

Monmouth-Roseville will return to action next Thursday, October 7, at Riverdale. Kickoff is slated for 6 p.m.
