West Central Heat Eye Bounce-Back Game at Galva

After starting the season with three straight wins, the West Central Heat 8-man football team has dropped two straight.

Head coach Jason Kirby said his team has to improve on some of their fundamentals before taking the field for Saturday’s noon kickoff at Galva:

“We need to hang onto the football better,” Kirby said in an interview earlier this week with Prairie Radio Communications Sports Director Shawn Temple. “We need to sustain our blocks better upfront, and we need to tackle better. Our kids need to be a bit more aggressive, and I need to do a better job of relaying that to them.

“Sometimes I worry about stepping on toes. But these last couple of days I’ve thrown that out the window and stepped on toes. Made sure guys knew some of the things we were doing weren’t going to be successful in the long run.

“The guys have taken that in stride and we’ve had a good week in practice.”
