Monmouth Rotary Club Lives Out ‘Service Above Self’ Motto with Adopt a Highway

Rotary focuses on seven areas that build relationships, improve lives, and create a better world. Supporting the environment was the latest focus added, which the Monmouth Rotary Club lives out through their local service project Adopt A Highway. After a three year hiatus, the club will meet Saturday, September 25th to beautify the bypass around Monmouth, says Rotarian Dr. Sid Smith:

“When you enter a community, first impressions are important. You kind of judge the community by the amount of trash that you see lying around. Everyone has driven into communities where it is pretty trashy and it is nice to dress up the place and at least make it look decent. It is a good service project for the community. We pick up Adopt A Highway from the former Barnstormer all the way to the American Legion. We try to pick it up at least twice a year. We use to do four times a year.”

The Monmouth Rotarians will be along the roadways from 7 to 11 am the morning of Saturday, September 25th.
