Founded in 2000, the Western Illinois Animal Rescue is a no kill nonprofit organization operated with the assistance of fundraising and volunteers caring for the animals, which are always encouraged, says President Phil Cooper:
“We do want to encourage people, if you are interested in helping the animals, it’s not about helping the rescue, it’s about helping the animals, we would love to have you come out. Even if it is an hour a week, that has a huge impact on our care schedule. Everybody is welcome. Everybody is encouraged to be a part of the program out there.”
Cooper anticipates 350 cats and more than 100 dogs will be adopted through the Western Illinois Animal Rescue this year.
