The 11th annual moot court competition on the Monmouth College campus will be held later this fall in which students of all majors come together and act as lawyers to argue a constitutional case for two rounds inside a “courtroom.” Assistant Political Science Professor Andre Audette has more:
“In our finals round, the students who advance to that round will argue before some local legal professionals. It is a great experience for the students to get to interact with the law. A lot of our students go onto law school, so this is a great opportunity for them. This year our case is deal with, based on a real case that occurred in the 2000s, looking at whether military recruiters could be required to go into law schools and try to recruit there. Some law schools pushed back against that and said it violated their free speech and free association rights and so we will see what the students decide in their arguments.”
The first round of the Monmouth College moot court competition will be held November 6th and the final round on November 10th.
