Jerry Daniel Joseph “Danny” Johnson, 81, of Monmouth, Il passed away at 2:33 am, Friday, November 19, 2021 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria, IL.
Danny was born June 7, 1940 in Monmouth, IL the son of Harlan and Clytie (Logsdon) Johnson. He was raised and educated in Monmouth attending Monmouth High School.
Danny married Vicki Hamilton in Oquawka, IL on September 21, 1985 and she survives.
Danny started working at the Monmouth Pottery at 16 years old. He later worked for Glaxtex, Butler’s and then the Agar Plant in Monmouth. He was an excellent carpenter and owned and operated Danny Johnson Siding in Monmouth for over 45 years.
He was a member in good standing of Alcoholics Anonymous for 43.5 years. He was an avid fisherman while living in Oquawka. When he moved to Monmouth he became a hobby farmer, which he loved. He enjoyed raising cows, goats, ducks, sheep, peacocks, chickens, rabbits and mini horses. He was always “all in” in everything he did. Danny was a wonderful family man.
Survivors include his wife, Vicki Johnson of Monmouth; 2 daughters, Barbara (Randy) Bell of Monmouth and Rebecca (Mark) Sage of Rantoul, IL; 4 grandchildren, Amber (Steve) Garcia, Elizabeth (Brian) Lee, Michael (Kelsey Bull) Johnson and Maggie (Carter Neal) Bell; 11 great grandchildren; 1 brother, Tony (Barb) Johnson of Monmouth; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 sons, Jackie Johnson and Sean Johnson; his siblings, Harlan, Martha, Bonnie, Phyllis, JoAnn, Brad, and Donald “Doc”.
Graveside services will be 2:00 pm Saturday, November 27, 2021 at Warren County Memorial Park, Monmouth, IL. No visitation is planned. Memorials may be given to Western Illinois Animal Rescue (WIAR) and sent to the funeral home. McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL, is in charge of the arrangements.
