The Monmouth City Council has approved a formal adoption of the $2.5 million 2021-2022 tax levy, in which 71% of the levy funds the police and fire pensions, $337,000 supports the delivery of municipal services, and $400,000 from the property tax levy is used to support the annual debt service payments, says City Administrator Lew Steinbrecher:

Steinbrecher and Communications Director Ken Helms inform most of the debt comes from unfunded mandates presented by legislation and the Illinois EPA for water and wastewater treatment.
