West Central Heat Football Gets First 8-Man Playoff Win in Program History

The West Central Heat football team are coming off of a 38-28 victory over the Decatur Lutheran-Mount Pulaski co-op in the first round of the IHSA 8-man football playoffs. The Heat jumped out to a big, early lead, scoring the first 21 points of the game in the 1st quarter. Kaiden Droste was the leading rusher for the Heat, going for over 300 yards and 5 touchdowns on the ground. Defensively, Devin Shaw finished the game with 21 tackles for West Central.

Head coach Jason Kirby says his kids are ready for round two on Saturday against (6-4) South Beloit.

The (8-2) West Central Heat are seeded 4th out of the 16 teams in the 8-man football playoffs and will hit the road on Saturday against the (6-4), 12th seeded South Beloit Sobos in the quarterfinals. The Sobos are coming off a 20-8 win over the higher seeded Flanagan/Cornell/Woodland co-op. Kickoff is set for 1:00.
