The Monmouth-Roseville Titan Athlete of the Week is freshman boys swimmer Anders Bergren. Anders made a splash in his first big varsity meet of his career in the Macomb Invitational. He placed 4th in the 50 yard freestyle. Anders was also in the top-10 in his other event, touching the wall in 6th in the 100 yard butterfly.
The United Red Storm Athlete of the Week is senior girls basketball player, Karragan Sperry. Karragan has been a big part of the Red Storm girls basketball resurgence. In just the last week alone, she averaged a team-best 11 points a game. Karragan’s season-high of 17 points came in a Lincoln Trail Conference win over Mercer County.
The West Central Heat Athlete of the Week is senior boys bowler, Michael Brown. Michael had a great day at the Abe Lincoln Memorial Tournament at King Pin Lanes in Springfield. He rolled a 6-game score of 1114, good enough for 38th place, individually. Even better, Michael’s fantastic single game score of 272 was the 9th best score of the entire tournament.
The Galesburg Silver Streak Athlete of the Week is senior wrestler, Jeremiah Morris. Jeremiah has some high hopes to make a deep run in the postseason this year and started off on the right foot. He took first place at the Sterling Carson Dejarnatt Invitational Tournament. Jeremiah pinned his way to the 220 pound title to remain undefeated on the young season.
The Abingdon-Avon Tornado Athlete of the Week is senior girls bowler, Genevieve Johnson. Genevieve rolled a 6-game score of 881 at the Abe Lincoln Memorial Tournament in Springfield.
