Charles H. Kirkpatrick, 102, of Roseville, IL, passed away at 9:54 a.m., Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at his home.

He was born on September 22, 1919 in Monmouth, IL, the son of Earl Henry and Lola D. (Huston) Kirkpatrick.   He was raised and educated in Roseville, graduating from Roseville High School in 1937.  He later graduated from Western Illinois University in Industrial Arts Education.

Charles served with the United States Army in the Cavalry as a 1st Lieutenant during World War II.  He later served with a Tank Unit, mostly in France.

Charles married Norma Lucille Twomey on December 27, 1942 in Ft. Riley, KS.  She preceded him in death on July 17, 2018. 

Following graduation from college, Charles was an Industrial Arts teacher at Mt. Carroll High School in Mt. Carroll, IL for 15 years before returning to Roseville to be the Lumber Yard Manager at Twomey Co, retiring in 1984. 

He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Monmouth, IL and the Roseville American Legion Post #619.   Charles built several homes, created furniture, loved and was an avid woodworker working in his basement and enjoyed fishing.

Surviving Charles are his eight children; Kay (Glenn) Darlington of Tucson, AZ, Linda (Rick) Jones of Castle Rock, CO, Vicki (Stew) Gilmore of Carterville, IL, Connie (Jim) Grant of Roseville, IL, Jonna Young of Smithshire, IL, Mary Alice (Jim) Addis, of Lafayette, IL, Holly (Kurt) Kociuba of Liberty Hill, TX, Ed Kirkpatrick of Crystal Lake, IL; 24 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; his brother, Jim Kirkpatrick of CA; brother-in-law, John Twomey of Monmouth, IL; and his sisters-in-law, Melba Twomey of Roseville, IL and Frances Kirkpatrick of Eaton Rapids, MI; numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife; 2 brothers, Robert Kirkpatrick and Raymond Kirkpatrick; 3 sisters, Mary Jane Primm, Martha Case, and Marjorie Laster.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 am, Thursday, January 20, 2022 at Immaculate Conception Church, Monmouth, IL with a Rosary Service beginning at 10:30 am at the church.  Interment with Military Honors will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Monmouth, IL.  Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 pm on Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL.
