Mr. Glenn Allen Levinson, 69, passed away at 6:05 pm Wednesday, January 5, 2022, at the Niles Care Elevate in Niles, Illinois.
Glenn was born April 15, 1952, in Chicago, Illinois the son of Curtis G. and Ruth Lillian (Antonson) Levinson. He married Susan Maggiore on August 20, 1977, in Galesburg.
Glenn is survived by his children, Brian (Star) Levinson of Tampa, Florida, and Cristina (Clayton) Hernandez of Deerfield, Florida; his brother, Gary (Romy) Levinson of Switzerland; his sister, Gail (Keith) Stumpf of Colgate, Wisconsin and two grandchildren, Olivia Hernandez and Mady Levinson. He is preceded in death by his parents.
Glenn graduated from Galesburg High School in 1970. He received his bachelor’s degree in zoology in 1974 and his Masters in entomology in 1979 from the University of Illinois. Glenn was the Director of Governmental Public Health Agency for over 40 years, retiring in January 2011. Within that time, he was extremely involved with assisting in many research projects.
Glenn was a member of the Covenant Church in Galesburg. He was a past president of the Rotary in Wheeling, Illinois and had received the Paul Harris Fellow award. In his free time, Glenn enjoyed playing the guitar and writing songs.
Funeral Services are scheduled for 11;00 am Tuesday, January 18, 2022, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel. Pastor Christine Bailey will officiate. Visitation will be 10:00-11:00 am at the chapel. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
