Rep. Hammond is Calling This 2022 Session ‘One Never Experienced Before’

The 102nd Illinois General Assembly reconvenes in Springfield today in what 93rd District State Representative Norine Hammond is calling a session never experienced before due to the Illinois Primary Election being pushed back to June:

“It is interesting because this is a session that we never really experienced. We would normally be in from the first part of January through the end of May. Because of the Primary Election being pushed off till June, that is not the case now and so we will be in session from January the 4th through about April the 8th. Same number of days just much more condensed schedule than we have had in the past. I am curious and hopeful that in fact we can have a budget put together by April the 8th. I don’t know if that is going to be possible and if not, then they certainly would be calling us back before the end of May.”

Representative Hammond informs she does not anticipate a lot of action on many bills because of the condensed schedule; however, there is talk of possible changes coming to the police reform bill.
