Rita (Rhodes) Kage, age 84, of Oquawka, Illinois, passed away at 9:38 pm on January 28, 2022 at Klein Center in Burlington, Iowa. Rita was born on March 2, 1937 in Mt. Clemens, Michigan and is the daughter of Phyllis Latourneau Rhodes and Daniel Rhodes. She was raised in Mt.Clemens, Macomb County, Michigan where she attended local schools. She married John Kage on May 17, 1957 in Mt.Clemens while he was stationed at Selfridge Air Force Base. During their marriage, they were stationed at Grissom Air Force Base, Indiana, Edwards Air Force Base, California, Bitburg Air Base, West Germany and Royal Air Force Base Upper Heyford, England. Upon her husband’s retirement from the Air Force in 1973, they moved a final time to Henderson County, where Rita enjoyed bowling, reading, fishing and spending time in the woods mushroom hunting. She was a member of Faith Bible Church in Oquawka. Rita is survived by her son, Walter (Mike) Kage and Candy of rural Oquawka, IL; her daughter, Dawn Carter and Ed of Ft. Madison, IA; and five grandchildren, Jonathon, Alex, Michael (Tye), Flint, and Emily. seven great grandchildren are also surviving. Her sister is surviving, Edith Kraugh of Mt. Clemens, Michigan.

A funeral service is being planned on Friday February 4, 2022 at 11:00 am at Turnbull Funeral Home in Oquawka, Illinois. Interment will be in South Henderson Cemetery north of Biggsville, Illinois. Her family plans a visitation and will receive their friends from 9:00 am to 11:00 am  prior to the funeral at the funeral home on Friday February 4, 2022.
