Gary Lee Kilpatrick, 75 of Abingdon, passed away at 4:41 p.m. Sunday, February 13, 2022 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg.

  He was born June 13, 1946 in Galesburg, the son of Robert L. and June (Ratliff) Kilpatrick.  His parents preceded him in death.

  Gary is survived by two daughters, Rachel (Rev. Mike) Forbis of Pekin and Katherine Okrzesik of Galesburg; his grandchildren, Elizabeth (fiancé, Tracy Yoder) Nelson, Matthew (Maggie) Helms and Nathan (fiancé, Baylee Evans) Okrzesik; 8 great-grandchildren and one on the way; and many cousins.

  Gary grew up in Abingdon and later served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.  He was factory worker and did mechanic work in his lifetime.  His hobbies included hunting and fixing up cars.  He really enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

  As he requested, cremation will be accorded.  A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, February 18, 2022, at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Abingdon Chapel.  His son-in-law, Rev. Mike Forbis will officiate.  Burial of his cremains with military rites will be at the Abingdon Cemetery.
