Jan K. Cook,74, of Little York, Il passed away at 3:25 am, Saturday, February 5, 2022 at her home.

Jan was born July 6, 1947 in Monmouth, IL the daughter of Marvin Bus and Dorothy (Haynes) McWhorter.  She was raised and educated in the Aledo area, graduating from Aledo High School in 1965.  She later graduated from Cele Whan Cosmetology School in Rock Island, IL

Jan married Marvin E. Cook at the Aledo College Ave. Presbyterian Church on April 22, 1967 and he survives.

While in High School Jan worked at Brown Lynch Scott in Aledo.  She later worked at a store in Bishop Hill.  Jan was a hairstylist for 53 years as a self-employed stylist owning Under Ground Hair and later as stylist at several local senior citizens facilities.

Jan was raised by very supportive parents on a farm south of Aledo, along with 7 cousins that lived within a mile of each other.  She enjoyed 4-H and showing Corriedale Sheep and Angus Cattle.  Following her marriage to Marvin, they moved around attending and working at 8 churches with wonderful preachers and congregations. Jan and Marvin were so fortunate to move into neighborhoods with the best people ever.  God blessed Jan with a great husband, daughter, son, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  They were such blessings and meant the world to her. She LOVED them so!

Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Marvin E. Cook of Little York, IL; daughter, Cyndee (Bob) Stockham of Seaton, IL; her son, Chad (Traci) Cook of Aledo, IL; grandchildren, Brian (Sylvia) Greer, Victoria Stockham, Cydnee Stockham, Elsie Cook and Kash Cook; great-grandchildren, Collins and Gwynn; her mother, Dorothy McWhorter of Aledo,d IL; her brothers, Tim (Jody) McWhorter and Rex McWhorter; sisters in law, Sharon (Bill) Hill of Keithsburg, IL  and Beverly Lenz of Woodhull, IL.

She was preceded in death by her father and in-laws, Marvin J. & Valera Cook.

Graveside services will be 1:30 pm, Wednesday, February 9, 2022 at Warren County Memorial Park, Monmouth, IL.  No visitation is planned. Memorials may be given to The Crossing Church, Monmouth, IL or the Mercer County Historical Society and sent to the funeral home.  McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL, is in charge of the arrangements.  For more information or to leave an online condolence please visit, www.mcguireanddaviesfuneralhome.com.
