The United School Board of Education met Thursday night to take further action on the mask-optional status for their students regardless of the current appeal by the Illinois Attorney General.
School Superintendent Jeff Whitsitt said “the board kind of preempted that and said you know what this is working for us right now there’s no learning environment gained at bouncing back and forth between masked and unmasked, so they they took it upon themselves and they they passed resolutions. We basically eliminated our return to school plan so any of the mitigations that we discussed in our return to school plan are no longer and the sentiment is we’re back to pre-pandemic stage”
Whitsitt says the covid-19 internal numbers for United have decreased since the end of January.
