WIU School of Ag honored

The Western Illinois University School of Agriculture recognized as a top nationwide program. The honor is from the National Association of Agricultural Educators. Andy Baker is the director of WIU’s School of Ag.

“This is my 24th year here at WIU and one of the things I’ve instilled in them since the get go, is be proud where you came from and make sure you brag about it right? And so, this award is a reflection of their hard work of getting out there still being super excited about being teachers right? And going out and interviewing and securing jobs in state of Illinois and another states. You know I was surprised. I really was surprised by this because again we’re a very small program. We’re not a large teacher ag program and other students do a fantastic job and again I’m very fortunate to work with some great students that have become great teachers”

NAAE specifically cited WIU for its Summer Experience in Ag Education, where students are interviewed for student teacher placements.
