Carolyn Sue Nelson, age 75 of Stronghurst, Illinois, passed away Monday March 21, 2022 at Oak Lane Nursing & Rehab in Stronghurst.  She was born November 11, 1946 in Neodesha, Kansas, the daughter of Clarence and Opal Bittman Buttler.  On September 3, 1966, she married Jack “Ozzie” Nelson in Biggsville, Illinois.  He preceded her in death on March 1, 2013.

Carolyn was employed for many years at the former Jacobs True Value in Stronghurst, and more recently was a bookkeeper at the Bank Of Stronghurst for many years.  She was a member of the Stronghurst American Legion Auxiliary.  She enjoyed working in her yard, watching college basketball, and especially, spending time with her granddaughter, Amber.

Survivors include two sons: Michael Nelson of Stronghurst, Chad Nelson of Gladstone, IL, one granddaughter: Amber Nelson of Stronghurst, three sisters: Esther Trimmell of Kansas, Pat Scott of Burlington, Iowa, Pam Dennison of Texas, and three brothers: Jim, Tom, and Mike Buttler, all of Kansas.  She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and two brothers: Clarence Buttler Jr, and John Buttler.

Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 8, 2022 in the Biggsville Cemetery.  No visitation is planned.  Banks & Beals Funeral Home of Stronghurst is assisting the family.  Please visit Carolyn’s obituary at banksandbeals.com to sign the guest book and leave a condolence.
