Charles R. “Ron” Lehnen, 77, of Monmouth, IL, passed away at 7:20 pm, Tuesday, March 15, 2022 at Unity Point Hospital in Peoria, IL.
Ron was born April 30, 1944 in Hillsboro, IL, the son of Charles and Ursula (Weidekamp) Lehnen. He was raised and educated in Nokomis, IL and graduated from Nokomis High School in 1962. He later attended Eastern Illinois University.
He married Charlet Fisher on June 19, 1965 in Shelbyville, IL; and she survives.
Ron purchased the Dairy Queen located on South 11th Street in Monmouth in 1968. He operated the Dairy Queen for 10 years serving your favorite soft serve treats in the summer and selling the most beautiful Christmas trees during the holiday season. Ron established, owned and operated the 11th Street Car Wash. He was the founder and President of Jasper Oil Development in Mt. Sterling, IL, retiring from this after 30 years. Ron also owned and operated Ron’s Autos and the First Avenue Lounge in Monmouth, IL.
Ron loved athletic sports and excelled in football, basketball, and baseball during high school. Cheering his children and grandchildren on in their athletic competitions was his greatest source of joy and pride and he loved to tell everyone of their accomplishments.
Surviving Ron is his wife, Charlet Lehnen of Monmouth, IL; his children, Tina (Mike) Huston of Roseville, IL, Talpha (Rick) Terrana of Tampa, FL, Trevor (Christine) Lehnen of Chatham, IL; his grandchildren, Ryley Huston, Carmyn Huston, Nick Huston all of Roseville, IL, Sierra Terrana, Nick Terrana both of Tampa, FL, Sydney Lehnen, Luke Lehnen, Kate Lehnen, Blake Lehnen all of Chatham, IL. Also surviving is his sister, Charleen Lehnen of Danvers, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, infant brother, Richard Lehnen, and infant granddaughter, Hannah Lehnen.
Funeral Services will be at 1:30 p.m., Friday, March 18, 2022 at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL. Visitation will be prior to the service from Noon-1:30 p.m. at the funeral home. A private family interment will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Monmouth. Memorials can be made to the Immaculate Conception School for the new gym or the Monmouth-Roseville High School Athletic Department.
