Richard L. Sipes, 80, of Galesburg, died at 2:11 p.m. Sunday, March 6, 2022, at home.

He was born February 3, 1942, in Joy, Illinois, the son of Richard Lee and Beulah (Robinson) Sipes.  He married Bonnie M. Wall on June 17, 1962, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Galesburg.  She preceded him in death on September 16, 2017 after 55 years of marriage.

He is survived by two sons, Robert A. (Heather) Sipes of Galesburg and James M. (Sarah) Sipes of Petersburg, Illinois; nine grandchildren, Tiffany, Robert (Ashley), Megan (Christian), Mathew, Tyler (Zack), Ariel, Grayson, Cole (Mackenzie), and Jack (Lindsay); three great grandchildren, Logan, Evan, and Victoria; a sister, Wanda Wade of Keithsburg; and a sister-in-law, Janet Sipes of Monmouth.  In addition to his wife, he was also preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Kimberley Robyn Sipes; two brothers and four sisters.

Richard worked for Harvey Brothers in Galesburg for over 50 years before retiring.  He was an accomplished woodworker.  When Bonnie was still living, they enjoyed many years hosting a booth at the Knox County Scenic Drive, where Richard sold wood items and Bonnie sold crocheted items.  His family was of utmost importance to Richard.

Visitation will be 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 13, 2022, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel.  Funeral service will be 1:30 p.m. Monday, March 14, 2022, at the chapel with Rev. James Reynolds officiating.  Burial will follow in East Linwood Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family.  Online condolences may be left for the family on the funeral home’s website at www.h-p-w.com.
