As local school districts lock in bids the prior year for fuel, United Superintendent Jeff Whitsitt says they will be unaffected until August; however, with the rising gas prices, that could change for the next school year:
“We are reaching out to our suppliers. We are working with them. We would love to lock in what we can, when we can, but we understand we are at their mercy. It is that time anyway we would be talking about this, so if there is a way for them to buy up front, we would love to get in on that with them, but I know they are in a lurch too.”
Meanwhile, the United Board of Education approved a bid on asbestos abatement at the high school and the 2022-2023 school calendar.
