Bridge Naming Honors Illinois Soldier’s Memory

Share

A bridge over Interstate 80 in Bureau County has been renamed in honor of a soldier who died on duty in Iraq in 2003. State Senator Win Stoller was on hand with several dignitaries as the Bridge was dedicated to Sgt Lincoln Hollinsaid of Malden, a small village in Bureau County. Hollinsaid’s father, Dan, spoke about what the Bridge dedication means to him and his family:

The bridge, nicknamed previously the Flags of Freedom Bridge, is notable for being surrounded by four large American flags at each corner.
