Call Before You Dig

Share

April is safe digging month informs Monmouth Fire Chief Casey Rexroat:

“I just want to remind people that if you are going to be digging and doing projects this spring, whether you are putting a fence or a mailbox in or anytime you are going to break ground, to call 811 or call Julie or the Illinois One Call system to get those lines and things like that marked on your yard before you start digging. We have some instances where people have hit gas lines and things like that you think are supposed to be two or three feet in the ground, but we have seen times where they are just inches below the ground.”

You can also visit http://call811.com to place your request before digging.
