During the month of April, the Monmouth Police Department will be enforcing a seat belt campaign, says Police Chief Joe Switzer:

“It is important to wear your seat belt. During a traffic crash, your seat belt is your first line of protection for you in that crash. A seat belt coincides with airbag deployment and that type of thing. You should wear your seat belt; it’s your number one line of defense of staying safe.”

Chief Switzer also reminds motorists that even though the department will be enforcing seat belts, they will remain on the lookout for distracted drivers and other traffic violations.
