M-R Board Begins Discussion on Adding School Resource Officer

Share

Monmouth-Roseville Superintendent Ed Fletcher has been granted approval by the board to approach the City of Monmouth of adding a School Resource Officer within the district:

“I think that for Monmouth-Roseville, having a Resource Officer would certainly be a positive. We will at least start the discussion and see what the future holds for something like that. Of course, it just depends on how much for a district that hires their own, how much does that cost. If you hire your own, do you then have them 12 months out of the year? I don’t know how all that works. That is the reason why we will start that discussion and try to find out what could that look like, are there grants out there, if there is a grant available, I am certain we will try to write for it. I think there is a lot of merit to having a Resource Officer working with kids, working with staff, and helping with training.”

Meanwhile, Superintendent Fletcher reports Harding Primary held a readathon and students logged 23,256 minutes, raising $3,635. Seventy-five percent of the funds raised will be utilized in the library.
