Monitor and Be Prepared for Severe Weather

Storm spotting and storm chasing may be the thing to do, however McDonough County Sheriff Nicholas Petitgout advises not doing so and turning to the local news:

“I know you watch the Weather Channel and storm spotting, and storm chasing is kind of the in thing and has been for a few years, but it is incredibly dangerous. We encourage everyone to follow the instructions from the National Weather Service: seek shelter, get inside, but in the event, you are caught in severe weather, stay in your vehicles, try to get into the ditch with your car. It is that time of the year. Please monitor the local news and be aware of what could happen.”
