United Red Storm Baseball Gearing Up for Lincoln Trail Conference Schedule

Share

The United Red Storm baseball team started the year (0-2) after one run losses to a solid Orion ball club and Class 3A Geneseo. Since then, the Red Storm have rattled off 9 wins in their last 11 games. Included in those nine wins were two Lincoln Trail Conference West Division victories over Mercer County. The Red Storm have a very important double header scheduled for this afternoon at home against new LTC member, Knoxville. The Blue Bullets are (7-7), playing a very competitive non-conference schedule. The Blue Bullets are also (2-0) in the West Division, beating West Central in a twin-bill last Saturday. The two squads, along with Abingdon-Avon, were the preseason favorites for the division title. The double header will start at 3:30 and we’ll have the first game on the PCSN, with our AM 1330/FM 94.1 WRAM pregame show starting at 3:15.

The United baseball team has rattled off at least 15 runs in five of their last six games, including 5 in a row in that stretch. The Red Storm are swinging the bat well, while also supporting the offense with strong defense and pitching leading to 5 shutout victories in their last six victories. United is hoping to continue their strong defense and pitching through the end of their season. Head coach Ryan Molek believes the team is getting better quality at-bats, as well as knowing crucial situations during games.

United will take on Knoxville today in a Lincoln Trail Conference doubleheader at 3:30 at United High School. The Red Storm will also travel to Orion on Monday, before facing Knoxville again on the road for a non-conference match up on Tuesday. United is looking for a pitch-by-pitch, offensive…..and defensive……approach.
