United West Elementary is this month’s School Spotlight of the Month, courtesy of the Regional Office of Education #33, MTC Communications and WMOI and WRAM. Principal Patrick Coate says the music program will be granted to $150 check provided by MTC Communications:
“We are going to give that money to our music teacher, Ashley Bushong. She works at both West and North Elementary. Ashely is a phenomenal teacher in the fact that she promotes a love of music, but also works with the kids in a way that helps them understand it and enjoy it as they participate. Lots of hands-on activities and teaches them there are varying ways to make music and to love it at the same time. She is in the process of purchasing some new classroom instruments and materials to support her day to day.”
United West Elementary consists of 50 certified and noncertified staff members.
