For the third time, the Illinois Manufacturers Association has named the coolest thing made in Illinois. The manufacturing industry employs 500,000 people in the state and the IMA says this year’s Markers Madness started with 400 nominations.

And the coolest thing made in Illinois is an all-electric truck built by Rivian the R1T.

“The R1T is the first electric truck in production, featuring four motors, eight driving modes, and up to 400 miles of range. it combines offroad capabilities with a driving style of a sports car with acceleration from zero to 60 miles an hour in as quick as three seconds.”

Rivian builds trucks and soon SUV’s in Bloomington on the site of the former Mitsubishi auto plant.
