Leta W. Fell, 81, of Monmouth, IL, passed away at 7:32 a.m., Wednesday, May 4, 2022, at Monmouth Nursing Home, Monmouth, IL. 

Leta was born June 24, 1940 in Fulton County, near Avon, IL, the daughter of Charles and Twylia (Shafer) Serven.  She was raised and educated near Avon, graduating from Avon High School and later Carl Sandburg College in Galesburg in 1983.

Leta married James LeRoy Fell at the Smithshire United Methodist Church on August 21, 1983 and he survives.

Leta worked for a time at the Warren County Farm Bureau before going to work for the Twomey Co. in Smithshire for 20 years, from 1991 until she retired in 2010.

She loved gardening, doing needlepoint and making baby quilts for all the great grandchildren.  Her family came first and foremost to her. 

Survivors include her husband, James Fell of Monmouth; her daughter, Pamela (Forrest Thurman) Sand of North Ft. Meyers, Fl; sons, Rodney (Maria) Martin of Biggsville, IL, Rick (Pam) Martin of Cedarhill, MO and Scott “Sparky” Martin of Monmouth, IL; her step-son, Brad Fell and step-daughter, Teresa Storz both of Galesburg, IL. 10 grandchildren; 5 step grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; 6 step-great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.  Also surviving are her 4 sisters, Opal Cozadd and Marge Douglas both of Galesburg, IL, Linda Johnson of Knoxville, IL and Jean Norris of Chestnut, IL; her brother-in-law, Albert (Linda) Fell of TX; numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; 4 sisters, Cora Franklin, Bertha McCormick, Stella Whitacre and Climeta Bryant; 1 step grandson, Ryan; 1 step great-grandson, Logan; 2 nieces and 3 nephews.

Funeral services will be 10:00 am, Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL. Interment will follow at Warren County Memorial Park, Monmouth.  Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Monday, May 9, 2022 at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.  For more information or to leave an online condolence please visit, www.mcguireanddaviesfuneralhome.com.
