Through a Community Partnership Grant, the Regional Office of Education #33 will address learning loss through the pandemic, focusing on mental health. Assistant Regional Superintendent of Schools Lori Loving says the program has a three-tiered approach:
“One of the things we are trying to establish are community hubs to work with our school districts to enhance our referral process, identify what needs they have, and make sure we are getting the support to the schools that they need. We are also going to be starting some parent support groups and some parent education around regulation and social-emotional type of skills that parents can work with their kids at home. We are also looking to add family educators to work with school aged children and families being referred by the school for those kids who need it the most and then ensure that the families and kids are getting all services and help they need to get to school.”
The Regional Office of Education #33 serves schools and communities in Henderson, Knox, Mercer, and Warren Counties.
