Slow Down, Wear a Seatbelt, Don’t Drive Impaired or Distracted this Memorial Day Weekend
With Memorial Day weekend here, marking the unofficial start to the summer, more people will be out and about on the roadways. Galesburg Police Chief Russ Idle reminds motorists to follow four major laws to remain safe:
“The big this in relation to being safe on the roadways; four big things that cause injuries and death on the roadways are speed, occupant restraints, impaired driving, and distracted driving by using electronic devices. If we can get people to really pay attention to those four issues by slowing down, wearing your seatbelt, don’t use alcohol or drugs when you are operating a motor vehicle, and stay off your phones, iPad’s, and other devices, and be really key on those four areas, will stop a lot of injuries and deaths on the roadways.”
