United Red Storm Baseball Claims Share of LTC West Division Title

The United Red Storm baseball team checked one of their 2022 goals off this list last night. The Red Storm swept West Central in a double header to tie the Knoxville Blue Bullets atop the Lincoln Trail Conference’s West Division standings. the two teams split a double header on April 22 at United High School. United won the unofficial rubber match game four days later in Knoxville. The (18-6) Red Storm have one game remaining on the regular schedule before starting postseason play next.

The United boys baseball team tied with Knoxville for a share of the LTC West division championship. Both squads put together a conference record of 7-1 after splitting a double header match up earlier in the season. The Red Storm fell to Monmouth-Roseville on Saturday 5-0, but bounced back against Annawan-Wethersfield on Tuesday with a 7-0 shutout victory. United finished the week with a doubleheader victory over West Central, winning 11-1 and 17-2, giving them a share of the division title. Head coach Ryan Molek is looking for his team to continue momentum going into the postseason.

United will take on Illini West on Saturday in a non-conference matchup. The Red Storm will be hosting their regional, with their first game taking place on Wednesday against the winner of West Central and West Prairie. United is happy with the way their defense has performed this season, specifically behind their strong pitching staff.
