Cubs Avoid Arbitration With Contreras

Share

The Cubs and catcher Willson Contreras agreed to a one-year deal worth 9.625 million dollars yesterday.  The contract allows them to avoid an arbitration hearing that was supposed to happen yesterday if no settlement was reached.  The Cubs originally offered nine-million dollars, while Contreras asked for 10.25 million.  The 30-year-old is in the middle of a career year, hitting .277 with 10 home runs and 23 RBI in 47 games.
