OSF HealthCare Holy Family Medical Center’s newly designed emergency department is now open. Director of Philanthropy, Stephanie Hilton, says the space was created with patient and family privacy in mind, especially with pre and post op surgeries:
“If you have had a procedure here at Holy Family, you know that the pre and post op area were down the hallway from surgery so you would have been wheeled all the way through out main hallway and probably seen people in the hallway, which is not the most comforting thing in that vulnerable environment. Now you would come in for your pre op and will go straight to surgery, which is just a couple of feet away, and then right back to that bay area for your post op. It is just a lot more friendly environment and a lot more comfortable for the patient, as well as their family while they are waiting for you to come out of surgery.”
The new entrance is now on the west side of Holy Family’s campus at 1000, West Harlem Avenue in Monmouth.
